Handmade Papers


Handmade papers are made from the bark, Danphe Shrub (locally known as the Lok), which has grown wildly, as well as cultivated only in the Himalayan region altitude of 6500-10000 feet. The Lok paper is manufactured in Nepal, the local community or sustainable managed forests, without harming the delicate ecology of the forest. The Lok plant has been regularly cut way to maintain the ecological balance.

In Nepal, the Lok handmade paper has more than 1500 years of history, and it is especially the case in mountainous areas. The historical manuscripts, Hindu and Buddhist, Royal & edicts the legal documents are in a centuries-old, and always having recorded nepali handmade paper. In the ancient time, handmade paper used for writing, myths, Mantra, Sutra and the Epics but in this day the paper is also used to make the standard gift items and home decoration.

Since the Lok paper and the manufacture of locally available raw materials, they are acid free and traditions.
